Position: FT RN

Overview

FT RN (Healthcare)

Responsibilities
  • Administrative Functions: Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing day-to-day nursing activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines; develop, maintain, and update written policies and procedures; ensure reference materials at nurses’ stations are current; recommend materials to support resident care; ensure Nursing Service Procedures Manual is current and followed by staff; make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director;

    periodically review policies, procedures, and job descriptions; coordinate nursing services with other resident services; ensure staff compliance with job descriptions; participate in quality assurance and facility surveys; review and update discharge plans; plan nursing services for discharge; meet with staff and support personnel to plan services; admit, transfer, and discharge residents; complete accident/incident reports; interpret policies to staff, residents, and agencies;

    perform administrative duties including medical forms, reports, and charting.
  • Security and Compliance: Agree not to disclose user IDs/passwords or resident health information; report unauthorized access attempts per facility policy.
  • Committee Functions: Attend and contribute to committees (e.g., Infection Control, Policy Advisory, QA, etc.); prepare reports on nursing programs; participate in Care Plan Committee agenda; implement committee recommendations.
  • Personnel Functions: Ensure adequate licensed staff and CNAs per shift; develop work assignments; delegate administrative authority to Charge Nurses; ensure CNA training completion; supervise rounds and staffing; monitor absenteeism and policy compliance; foster interdepartmental collaboration; maintain a warm, professional unit environment; participate in performance evaluations and staffing decisions; administer disciplinary actions fairly; report occupational exposures and fraud; ensure proper login/logout of computer workstations.
  • Nursing Care Functions: Inform admissions and coordinate room readiness; greet admissions and escort; collaborate with physicians on care, rehabilitation, and documentation; monitor residents’ status daily; ensure direct nursing care by licensed staff or qualified aides; review nurses’ notes for accuracy and alignment with care plans; initiate IVs and specimen collection as ordered; manage admissions/transfers/discharges; communicate status to Director; assist in corrective actions;

    keep Director informed with reports; monitor seriously ill residents; authorize restraints per policy; oversee medication administration procedures and documentation; inspect treatment areas; ensure check-ins for residents unable to call for help; communicate with residents and families; arrange transportation for discharges; notify families of deaths.
  • Staff Development: Lead in-service training and supervision planning; participate in ongoing professional development and HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, safety training; support nurse aide clinical supervision.
  • Safety and Sanitation: Develop safety standards, ensure training for exposure to blood/body fluids, maintain PPE stock, enforce hand hygiene and fire/disaster drills; participate in infection control programs; implement hazardous condition reporting; ensure safe operation and use of equipment; maintain MSDS records; ensure proper labeling and safety practices.
  • Equipment and Supply Functions: Recommend department equipment and supply needs; maintain stock levels; assist in preventive maintenance; ensure safe operation of equipment; optimize supply use; keep MSDSs on file.
