Job Functions
  • Education Specialist:
    • Assess learning needs, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the outcomes of evidence-based/best-practice education; education is based on environmental scans, gap analysis, and trending needs of physicians, nursing, and other hospital staff.
    • Collaboratively formulate and maintain educational programs in response to strategic objectives, service line, quality and patient outcome data, regulatory standards, and annual needs assessment.
    • Collaborate with departments, education coordinators, and leaders; serve as educational expert, mentor to educators, and liaison for content experts.
    • Acquire continuing education hours for various healthcare disciplines to maintain compliance for contact hour providerships.
    • Maintain records, reports data, and provide reports pertinent to regulatory agencies, education or programs, departmental goals, key metrics, or quality data.
    • Ensure adherence to standards of the American Heart Association programs, RQI and other accrediting agencies for required certifications; support staff certification through instruction.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources, IT, department leaders, and education coordinators to maintain new hire orientation, onboarding, and validation of staff competence.
    • Act as a change agent to facilitate communication, collaboration of key stakeholders, workflow design, and implementation of an education plan due to accreditation, regulatory standards, process improvement, LEAN, or best practice.
    • Assume all other duties as necessary.
  • CME Specialist:
    • Assess learning needs, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate education programs for physicians, nursing and other hospital staff (NPs & PAs).
    • Formulate education programs in response to strategic objectives, quality and patient outcome data, regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and annual needs assessment.
    • Collaborate with physicians, PAs & NPs, nursing, administration, and departments to develop physician education based on evidence-based best practice; evaluate impact on patient outcomes and quality metrics.
    • Develop and acquire continuing education hours for physician education programs; maintain accreditation compliance for physician providerships (ACCME and AOA).
    • Assist in formation and revision of goals, policies or procedures related to physician education; participate in review and revision of physician education.
    • Prepare reports and maintain records pertinent to educational programs and departmental operations.
    • Facilitate communication, workflow design, implementation and education plan of changes due to accreditation and regulatory standards; process or system improvements as a result of LEAN, quality/process review, etc.; or from best practices.
    • Work collaboratively with physicians, the CME committee, and other hospital employees to achieve the desired outcomes with physician education.
    • Collaborate with physician recruitment and liaison services to assist with onboarding and orientation of physicians across the health system.
    • Maintains compliance in RQI.
    • Assume all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education/Experience

    Required:
    • Current licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse (if an RN) or other appropriate certification/licensure if non-nursing.
    • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Education, Information Technology, or other healthcare related field required.
    • Experience with training, learning design and development, e-learning concepts, tools, and instructional design knowledge preferred.
