We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

Overview

The Airframe Assembly Inspector III (Third Shift) performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly inspection operations, including analyzing the process and recommending process improvements. May be responsible for distributing activities and goals, coordinating, and guiding technical support groups. Assist with new inspectors, as well as assist in process analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly inspection operations on structural assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Work from diagrams and drawings, confirm initial layouts, and use hand tools to check conformity to specifications.
  • Make continuity checks on work in process and finished work.
  • Conduct quality inspections on the processing line in accordance with quality specifications.
  • Follow approved inspection procedures for component or aircraft structures, consulting internal procedures that are FAA approved, OEM technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Inspect completed work to identify any needed rework before signing off; ensure that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Complete work package documentation as required by internal quality process and FAA guidelines.
  • Review assembly work for final or in progress inspection and certification of airworthiness.
  • Observe the airframe assembly team during bonds, keep time, take pictures, and audit the bond in real-time.
  • Take initiative and be proactive about inspection needs within Airframe Assembly.
Required
  • High School or GED.
  • Mechanically inclined, familiar with the use of precision instruments and hand tools for inspections.
  • Familiar with the fabrication of composite parts.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in the use of air-powered hand tools and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Working Conditions / Environment /

Special Requirements
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner, adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required.
Desired
  • Preferred 1+ years’ experience with aircraft composite assembly, mechanical assembly, or aircraft structures, and ability to use all technical data and aircraft drawings, and manufacturing work instructions to perform inspections.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Familiar with paste/secondary bonded structure.
  • A&P and mechanical experience a plus.
Compensation & Benefits

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $25–$34 per hour. The compensation package will be determined by job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
