Administrative Assistant - Public Works Department

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our Public Works Department. This position plays a key role in providing administrative support to department leadership and staff, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks to support Public Works operations
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls and greet visitors
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents as needed
  • Maintain accurate records, files, and databases
  • Assist with basic bookkeeping tasks, including processing invoices and tracking expenses
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public and internal departments
Working Hours

The typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Salary

Salary:
The 2025 hourly pay for this position is $21.17 / hour, with step increases. This position is eligible for the annual COLA pending City Council approval.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required; 2+ years of administrative or clerical experience, preferably in a municipal or government setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, strong verbal communication skills, ability to prioritize and work independently. Familiarity with basic accounting or bookkeeping practices a plus.

Residency

Applicant is required to establish residency in the State of Wisconsin within 6 months of hire.
