Summary

The Production Engineer at AISIN Electronics IL provides technical leadership and support to manufacturing operations with a focus on reducing downtime, improving efficiency, and supporting new equipment and product launches. This role drives continuous improvement, ensures safety and quality compliance, and collaborates across departments to meet production and cost reduction goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leading the reduction of unplanned downtime for mass production and new equipment.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives for mass production and new equipment.
  • Assessing manufacturing feasibility for design changes and new designs.
  • Implementing engineering changes based on drawing revisions and maintaining current drawings for each product.
  • Leading waste reduction and cost reduction activities such as overproduction, muda, gourika, M0 / S 1/2, and other non value-added work.
  • Managing new equipment installation and process preparation, including scheduling, PPP & PPS, PFMEA, PV41 and PV42 activities.
  • Ensuring zero NG activity—tracking all NGs with follow‑up of counter‑measures.
  • Meeting production rates and machine cycle time targets.
  • Ensuring on‑time delivery of all equipment necessary to support new product launches.
  • Planning, procurement, and management of facilities.
  • Maintaining equipment through mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair.
  • Developing and documenting training for manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Developing and implementing cost reduction and continuous improvement actions.
  • Ensuring plant and OSHA safety requirements, production utilization goals, and facilities support are met through proper maintenance planning.
  • Coordinating with other sections to meet all requirements for the 3‑Pillar Program.
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure EPA compliance.
  • Meeting departmental budget.
  • Performing all duties in conformance with safety and security standards.
  • Performing other reasonably related tasks as required by the supervisor or management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • No supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of electronic automotive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of the Toyota Production System and JIT.
  • Electrical engineering knowledge.
  • Excellent cooperative personality.
  • Short‑term notice business travel.

  • Ability to interact well with coworkers.
  • Ability to lead “white board” discussions to chart and better understand AEIL systems.
  • Ability to work 2 shifts.

Salary Range

$76,250 - $90,250 Annually

Qualifications, Education & Experience Required
  • Bachelor of science 4+ year degree (BSC or BEng) in engineering or engineering technology.
  • University issuing this degree must have H.L.C. and A.B.E.T. accreditation.
  • Accepted engineering or engineering technology degrees:
    Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Control, Computer Engineering, Electro‑mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Automotive, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, and Systems.
  • 5 years of prior applicable experience in manufacturing.
  • Valid passport for travel required.
  • Solid Works or other CAD drawing software experience preferred.
Organizational (and Outside) Relationships

All other AEIL Departments and various outside vendors and customers.

Work Environment
  • Dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane, solvents, and occasional heavy lifting.
  • Hazardous machinery and/or conditions that could result in injury up to and including a fatality if safety measures are not followed.
  • Typical manufacturing area with required personal protective equipment such as safety shoes and safety glasses.
  • Open staff room with constant activity and interaction with cross‑functional divisions, departments, and sections. Must be able to effectively change tasks at a moment’s notice when the situation requires.

This position will provide technical leadership and support to manufacturing to ensure less downtime and greater efficiencies.
