Job Summary- Set up and operate automatic or semi‑automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation.
- Monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications.
- Report any malfunctions or abnormalities and make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
This position is required to work 1st and/or 2nd shift, as needed.
Impact of the RoleGeneral Profile
- Working supervisor of a team (spends a portion of time performing the work supervised) or supervises the daily activities of production team members.
- Must have one or more direct report types.
- Analyses information to solve on‑going problems and implements procedures and approaches to complete work.
- Responsible for results of the team.
- Provides direction to team using extensive knowledge of established precedents and practices.
- Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment.
- Supervises production operations for assigned units or during an assigned shift.
- Supervises workers that operate production machinery, assemble items, perform quality control, or package goods for shipment.
- Notifies maintenance or engineering departments when equipment requires maintenance or repair.
- Monitors output of assigned area(s) against established schedules or quality goals. Coordinates the flow of work through the department and ensures that the department has sufficient levels of inventory to meet demand and is staffed appropriately.
- Leads and directs the work of other employees and has some responsibility for personnel actions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions with concurrence from the HR Directors & General Managers.
- Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 3‑5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
- Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
- Discipline/Major: Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations or Business degree preferred
- Knowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to work as part of a team. Decision‑making skills. Problem/situation analysis. Project management skills. Planning skills.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Requires regular movement throughout GD‑OTS facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Work primarily in a climate‑controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
- Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
