The Nursing programs at all 18 campuses seek to hire RN tutors. The RN tutors will work with students in both the ASN and PN programs over the next three years to assist with nursing coursework and improve NCLEX‑RN and NCLEX‑PN pass rate outcomes. This is a part‑time position requiring sensitivity to diverse academic, socio‑economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of college students and employees.
Responsibilities- Provide individual and group tutoring for PN and ASN students and graduates awaiting NCLEX testing through walk‑in or scheduled appointments (in person or virtual).
- Create a professional and welcoming environment, modeling respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills, abilities, and experiences.
- Deliver subject‑specific content to help students, clarify course material, and diagnose learning needs.
- Utilize listening and questioning strategies as primary tutoring methods to monitor progress.
- Recognize different learning styles and student preferences, supporting the development of research and study strategies.
- Use feedback and reflection to improve practice and help students become more confident, successful, and self‑directed learners.
- Maintain and submit weekly reports of services provided and report student progress to the Nursing Dean or designee.
- Associate degree in Nursing.
- RN licensure.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of under‑resourced and disadvantaged populations.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Commitment to work 4–20 hours per week during campus hours, Monday through Friday 9 AM–6 PM.
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience.
- Selected candidates will be subject to pre‑employment background checks and must provide official transcripts upon hiring.
