- Assist residents with bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming, nail care, and dressing needs.
- Feed residents, provide bedside water and snacks, and transfer them to and from dining areas in compliance with nutritional care plans.
- Answer call lights and respond to residents’ requests for assistance in a timely manner.
- Maintain resident rooms by making beds or changing linens, cleaning bedside tables, and organizing personal belongings.
- Observe and report any signs of change in residents’ appetite, skin condition, or behavior.
- Provide emotional support and active listening to help residents build trust and independence.
- Maintain confidentiality of residents and their care to protect rights and privacy.
- Document medical records per facility policy for vitals, assistance, etc.
- Comply with safety requirements, infection control measures, and keep a clean work environment.
- High‑school diploma or GED (or student permit).
- Certified by the Indiana State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing; out‑of‑state CNAs may work 120 days while awaiting Indiana certification.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Thorough understanding of safe and effective nursing practices in Indiana.
- Interpersonal skills, including:
- Assisting licensed nurses with procedures within scope.
- Following written and verbal instructions, functioning independently and making independent decisions when warranted.
- Dealing tactfully with residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and personnel.
- Working harmoniously with professional and non‑professional staff.
- Prioritizing tasks and responsibilities according to standards, policies, and procedures.
- Protecting confidential information and adhering to HIPAA and corporate compliance.
- Patience, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to work with residents of varying maturity and physical ability.
- Adhering to the professional code of ethics and relaying information about residents’ conditions to appropriate staff.
