Grounds Worker

Indiana Wesleyan University is seeking a Grounds and Landscaping employee to serve the campus community in various roles as directed by the Director of Grounds and Landscaping. The position may involve snow removal, lawn care, landscaping, waste disposal and recycling, general grounds care, and facilities maintenance. The employee will also perform other related duties as assigned, comply with all safety regulations, and follow all Facilities Management procedures.

• Supervise and direct student worker pool as necessary.
• Work in extreme weather conditions, both hot and cold.
• Perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting heavy objects up to 75 lb.
• Be attentive to detail, self‑starter, and able to work without close supervision.
• Communicate effectively, discerning, and tactful.
• Serve in any capacity determined by Grounds Department leadership.
• Read and follow written and oral instructions.
• Work cooperatively with employees and the public.
• May be required to work overtime as directed.

All employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

• High School Diploma.

• Two (2) years of relative experience in a grounds/maintenance related field.

• Operate hand and power mowers, front‑end loaders, tractors, spraying equipment, and hand and power tools safely.
• Knowledge of standard hand and power tools used in grounds maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety standards and precautions for equipment use.
• Valid driver’s license.
