This position is responsible for administrative and clinical duties delegated by the physician. The Medical Assistant assists the physician with patient care in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code. Other responsibilities include routine clinical and administrative duties, varying based on the size and specialty of the practice.

• High School Diploma or GED
• BLS - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
• Completion of a High School Medical Assistant Career Technical Program, or
• Graduation from an accredited School of Medical Assisting, or
• Completion of Military Medic training, or
• Certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P), or
• At least one year of experience as a physician‑trained Medical Assistant in a similar clinical setting.

• Facilitates efficient patient flow by preparing patients for visits and providing services as determined by providers in accordance with licensure, policy, and scope of practice.
• Performs Care Connect EMR documentation and ensures all information is current and updated.
• Maintains and cleans the work environment and equipment, and reports malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Communicates with patients and patients’ families respectfully.
• Collaborates with the health care team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Collects and monitors patient data, reporting as directed.
• Maintains documentation guidelines for patient chargeable items and services.
• Ensures processes and services are monitored for quality, cost‑effectiveness, and efficiency.
• Engages in process and quality improvement activities; recommends and implements operational efficiencies.
• Continues professional development and education, including department‑specific requirements.
• Promotes patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives and acts as a role model.
• Serves as SME/resource to the department on quality, performance improvement, and EMR (e.g., EPIC Super User).
• Prepares patients for visits and admissions, providing education and services within scope of practice.
• Leads and supports development of standard work and necessary customizations.
• Functions as a clinical preceptor and trains new staff.
• Maintains compliance with scope of practice.
