Asphalt Plant Laborer

This position performs a wide variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor around our hot mix asphalt plant in Marion. This is a seasonal position that typically starts in March and ends in November when laid off.

Work Environment: This position is exposed to all types of outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, dust, and fumes. Laborers work around moving conveyor belts, oversized front‑end loaders, and dump trucks. The noise level is usually very loud. Personal protective equipment is provided.

Schedule: Based on production needs, this position may work days (Monday to Friday) or overnight (Sunday night to Friday morning). Weekly overtime of 45+ hours is common.

Duties:

• General laboring such as shoveling, cleaning, and greasing.
• Operate a skid steer.
• Assist in the operation and maintenance of the asphalt plant.
• Perform duties as required by the plant supervisor.

Required:

• Above average mechanical skills
• Able to use hand and power tools
• Able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen
• Able to stand, crouch, and walk for long periods of time (10+ hours)
• Able to climb up and down heights of 100+ feet
• Regularly lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 pounds
• Available to work days and nights, including overtime
