Engineering Shift Manager
Location:

Salary:
Up to £56,500 depending on experience
Hours:
4 on 4 off days and nights 06:45 - 18:45, and 18:45 - 06:45
- Support management in overseeing daily departmental operations.
- Supervise and contribute to completion of planned maintenance (PMs) to meet KPIs.
- Communicate breakdowns and repairs clearly via verbal updates, email, and Holis Tech reports.
- Carry out major mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance PM effectiveness.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Maintenance, Operations, and QA teams.
- Oversee pre-startup checks of production equipment.
- Identify and drive efficiency and productivity improvements across the plant.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, legislation, and best practices.
- Assign, train, develop, and supervise engineering staff on shift.
- Ensure all activities are conducted without compromising health and safety.
- Monitor engineers and contractors to ensure safe working practices.
- Promote and uphold H&S standards at all times.
- Ensure engineering representation at H&S meetings.
- Support and maintain food safety and quality standards in all engineering activities.
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g. mechanical, electrical, or multi‑skilled discipline)
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Experience supervising or leading engineering teams on shift
- Strong background in planned and reactive maintenance systems (e.g. CMMS like Holis Tech)
- Competent in fault finding and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
- Good understanding of preventative maintenance and continuous improvement
- Ability to analyse equipment performance and identify efficiency improvements
- Familiarity with production equipment start‑up and shutdown procedures
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
- Strong leadership and team management skills
