Job Description:
Our client in Markham is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities:- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting
- Manage and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed
- Ensure timely and accurate month‑end closing and financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
- Assist with tax planning and compliance, including preparation of tax returns and communication with external tax advisors
- Participate in process improvements and other projects as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA certification is a plus
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, including at least 2 years in a management role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
