Controller; Real Estate Development

Salary: $115,000-$125,000 annually (based on experience)

Kelly Services is recruiting a Controller on behalf of our client, a small to mid-sized real estate development company located in Markham, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional looking to take the next step in their accounting and finance career by leading the accounting function within a growing organization. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial operations, project accounting, and supporting strategic business decisions.

• Lead the full accounting cycle, including month-end and year-end financial reporting.
• Oversee project accounting, job costing, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting for development projects.
• Prepare and review project proformas, budgets, and financial analysis.
• Manage banking relationships, lender reporting, construction draws, and financing requirements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, CRA, Tarion, and other regulatory requirements.
• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
• Support audits, internal controls, and continuous process improvements.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team while partnering with senior leadership to support business decisions.

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Experience with in real estate development, construction is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, project accounting, job costing, cash flow forecasting, and lender reporting.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Newstar, Jonas, or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Salary $115,000-$125,000 annually (based on experience).
