Join McAteer as an Accounting Clerk, providing essential accounting and administrative support primarily in Accounts Payable. This role is based out of McAteer’s Markham, Ontario office at 45

McIntosh Drive. The office will relocate to 2255 Sheppard AveESte
202, North York in the fall; the successful candidate will work from the new location once the transition is completed.

Responsibilities
  • Check and review payment information on cheque/D.D. requisitions, verifying approvals.
  • Enter invoices into the Sage
    50 accounting software.
  • Print, distribute, and obtain signatures for cheques and electronic payments, and send email notifications to payees.
  • Maintain vendor listings and ensure the information is up to date.
  • Monitor and maintain the cheque inventory.
  • Handle all A/P related inquiries and file related documentation.
  • Manage logistics of documents on the signing desk and send reminders to signing officers if there is backlog.
  • Handle contribution deposits (cheques, EFT deposits and Bill Payments from Admin). Handle non‑contribution deposits from all sources.
  • Process the monthly contribution receipt cut‑off for some clients.
  • Support special projects as assigned.
  • Provide exceptional client service by promptly addressing inquiries.
Qualifications
  • Completion of post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of professional experience in Accounting, Bookkeeping or Accounts Payable.
  • Sound proficiency in the MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, multitasking and time‑management skills.
  • High degree of accuracy with numerical and financial data.
  • Excellent grammatical, spelling, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.
  • Professional experience with Sage or Quick Books is an asset.
  • Fluency in both French and English is an asset.

Base salary: $45,000 – $50,000 annually, depending on local market conditions, geography, and relevant job‑related factors. Variable compensation components (e.g., bonus, commission) are not included in the base salary figure.
