Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join our team in Markham. This position will support the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple companies and Canadian provinces
.

The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of hands-on Canadian payroll experience
, including experience processing multi-provincial payroll
, along with a strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory deductions, taxable benefits, vacation pay, overtime, and employment standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process biweekly and monthly payroll accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Support payroll processing across multiple legal entities, locations, and Canadian provinces
    .
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary and wage changes, leaves, transfers, promotions, and other employment changes.
  • Calculate and process overtime, bonuses, commissions, taxable benefits, allowances, deductions, vacation pay, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with applicable provincial and federal legislation, tax requirements, and employment standards
    .
  • Prepare and review payroll reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Process and maintain employee information within payroll and HRIS systems.
  • Coordinate closely with Human Resources, Finance, and operational teams regarding employee changes, benefits, leaves, and payroll matters.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, audits, reconciliations, and reporting as required.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll and employee information.
  • Support payroll process improvements and additional payroll-related projects as required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 2–3 years of hands-on Canadian payroll experience in a Payroll Administrator, Payroll Coordinator, or similar position.
  • Previous experience processing multi-provincial Canadian payroll is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting payroll across multiple entities, locations, or business units is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with payroll/HRIS platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, Dayforce, Payworks, or similar systems
    .
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll practices, including statutory deductions, taxable benefits, vacation pay, overtime, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and provincial payroll legislation and employment standards.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with payroll reports and large volumes of employee data.
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (
    PCP
    ) designation or progress toward completion is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple payroll deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-company environment
    .
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
