Vacancy Status: This is an evergreen posting intended to proactively identify and connect with talent for ongoing and future opportunities.

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Coordinator, the Project Coordinator supports the delivery of self‑performing heavy civil and transportation projects, primarily for MTO and public‑sector / ICI clients.

This role requires strong knowledge of civil construction, high digital capability, and a commitment to Safety First. The Project Coordinator supports planning, coordination, quality, cost control, contract administration, and reporting to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery.

PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE PROJECT COORDINATION & DELIVERY
  • Support planning and execution of site operations.
  • Coordinate self‑perform crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet production targets.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Forepersons, Estimators, Project Accounting, Commercial, and Scheduling teams.
  • Track daily production, quantities, and progress.
STAKEHOLDER & OWNER INTERFACE
  • Liaise with Owners, MTO, regions, municipalities, consultants, inspectors, and ICI clients.
  • Maintain clear communication between field teams and external stakeholders.
DIGITAL, FINANCIAL & CONTRACT CONTROLS
  • Manage documentation and workflows using Kahua CMS and project systems.
  • Support financial and quantity reporting, cost tracking, and earned value inputs.
  • Assist with contract administration, including change documentation and document control.
  • Coordinate materials, purchase orders, and supplier deliveries.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT
  • Execute ITPs and quality requirements.
  • Prepare and submit quality documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, OPSS/OPSD, MTO standards, and GIP requirements.
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
  • Act as a safety culture ambassador, reinforcing GIP’s Safety First mindset.
  • Support site safety plans and ensure compliance with Ontario OH&S and environmental regulations.
  • Assist with incident and near‑miss investigations.
REPORTING & RECORDS
  • Maintain daily site diaries and project records.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports (production, safety, quality, financial inputs).
  • Enforce company policies for employees, subcontractors, and suppliers.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Post‑secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in heavy civil / transportation construction; MTO experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of self‑perform civil construction means and methods.
  • Demonstrated digital dexterity (Kahua experience an asset).
  • Experience with financial reporting, quantity tracking, and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of OPSS/OPSD, OH&S, and construction safety regulations.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills.

  • Expected Base Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 per year. The actual base salary will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations.
