Superintendent — Roads & Highways

Green Infrastructure Partners Inc. (GIP) is a leading, self‑performing infrastructure contractor delivering complex road, highway, and municipal projects across Ontario. We are looking for a senior Roads & Highways Superintendent—a proven field leader who takes pride in building work the right way, the first time, and who thrives in a high‑performance, operations‑driven environment.
Responsibilities- Field Leadership & Execution: Lead daily field operations across road and highway projects, including grading, granulars, paving support, drainage, structures interfaces, and traffic staging. Plan, organize, and supervise multiple crews and sites with varying durations, volumes, and complexity.
- Pre‑Planning & Right‑First‑Time Delivery: Drive disciplined pre‑planning, including look‑ahead schedules, sequencing, traffic control staging, utility coordination, and constraint management. Partner with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to align scope, schedule, permits, inspections, and changes before work starts.
- Quality & Specifications: Ensure all work meets provincial (MTO), municipal, and regional specifications and contract requirements. Inspect work in progress and at completion to confirm conformance and prevent rework.
- Safety, Public Interface & Sustainability: Lead safety for all stakeholders—employees, subcontractors, inspectors, and the travelling public. Conduct daily huddles, FLRAs, toolbox talks, and enforce stop‑work authority when required. Represent GIP professionally with municipalities, inspectors, and the public.
- Financial & Schedule Accountability: Understand and actively manage cost drivers including labour productivity, equipment utilisation, trucking cycles, and sequencing. Support accurate forecasting, cost‑to‑complete, and schedule recovery planning to protect milestones and margins.
- People & Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop forepersons and crews in a non‑union environment that collaborates daily with unionised partners. Participate in hiring, performance management, and corrective action when required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience delivering road and highway construction in Ontario.
- Proven experience on MTO and municipal projects.
- Strong understanding of provincial, municipal, and regional specifications.
- Demonstrated success leading high‑volume, self‑performed operations.
- Strong safety leadership and practical financial acumen.
- Comfortable working in a non‑union environment alongside unionised trades.
- Clear communicator with the ability to earn trust from crews, clients, and inspectors.
- AFP / P3 or Design‑Build experience is an asset.
- Base salary: $110,000–$150,000 per year (dependent on experience, qualifications, location and market).
