Reporting to the Manager of Art & Design, the Senior Industrial Designer is responsible for leading the development of production-ready product designs that balance ergonomics, aesthetics, brand fit, manufacturability, and commercial requirements.
This role focuses heavily on hands-on industrial design execution, including form exploration, 3D CAD development, prototyping, design refinement, and manufacturing handoff. The Senior Industrial Designer will work closely with Product Management, engineering teams, and overseas manufacturing partners to translate product requirements into compelling, feasible consumer hardware while protecting design intent through development.
Visualization, CMF, packaging, and graphic design support are provided by internal specialists, allowing this role to focus primarily on product architecture, form development, ergonomics, and production-oriented design execution.
Key Responsibilities- Concept Development & CAD:
Lead early-stage form exploration and create, refine, and maintain 3D CAD models to support product development. Translate sketches, product requirements, and brand direction into strong physical product concepts. Test and refine designs through rapid prototyping and 3D printing workflows. - Design Execution & Brand Fit:
Develop product forms that feel aligned with each brand’s design language while introducing fresh, commercially relevant design cues. Consider silhouette, proportions, ergonomics, surface treatment, mouthpiece integration, display/indicator placement, and overall user experience. - Manufacturing Handoff:
Work closely with engineering teams and overseas manufacturing partners to translate concepts into manufacturable consumer hardware while retaining design intent. Consider materials, plastic part design, tooling, split lines, assembly, finishes, tolerances, and cost implications. - Global
Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with overseas manufacturers in the mornings or occasionally evenings as required to ensure technical feasibility, review feedback, and resolve production bottlenecks. - Market Intelligence:
Conduct occasional market visits and attend trade expos as needed to understand the competitive landscape, identify hardware trends, and stay current with industrial design, CMF, manufacturing, and consumer product trends outside of the vape industry. - Cross-Functional Stakeholder Alignment:
Leads alignment with internal stakeholders by clarifying project objectives, gathering requirements, asking critical questions, and translating business, brand, and product needs into feasible, production-ready design solutions.
Other related tasks as assigned by manager.
- Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
- 5+ years of industrial design experience, ideally with a track record of bringing physical consumer products to market.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating form development, CAD execution, manufacturability awareness, and production-oriented design thinking.
- High proficiency in CAD and design software such as Rhino, Fusion 360, Solid Works, Key Shot, Adobe Creative Suite,…
