The Mandarin Pastor will serve within a team setting to equip and nurture the Mandarin congregation across diverse age groups.
Overview of Church and CommunityThe church currently has a pastoral team and approximately 900 in-person congregants across four divisions:
Mandarin (~200), Cantonese (~400), English (~120), and Young Life (~150). Strategically located near Hwy 404 between Major Mackenzie Drive
E. and 16th Avenue, the church serves a growing residential community with a predominantly Asian background.
- A clear calling from God and a strong passion for serving the body of Christ.
- Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or higher from an accredited theological institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of pastoral experience in a North American church of similar size and culture (preferred).
- Strong preaching and teaching gifts are preferred.
- Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English;
Cantonese proficiency is an asset. - Accredited by or willing to seek accreditation with the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec (CBOQ).
- A collaborative team player committed to ministry alignment and church unity.
- Work collaboratively with church leaders to recruit, train, coach, and support ministry leaders in related areas.
- Serve as a mentor to assigned Fellowship and Small Groups, providing pastoral care and guidance to Fellowship and Small Group Leaders through regular visits, ongoing support, and practical assistance.
- Participate in pulpit, teaching, and prayer ministries as designated or invited.
- Provide pastoral care, including support, visitation, and counseling, to related leaders and members as needed.
- Attend relevant meetings, such as Pastoral Staff, Committee of Pastors and Deacons, Members, and Mandarin Division meetings, as required.
- Report ministry progress regularly to the Mandarin Lead Pastor and/or Senior Pastor.
