Position: Summer Student Co-ordinator, Community and Volunteer Resources (10492)

Schedule

The successful candidate will work Monday - Friday. Schedules may change based on operational needs.

$ per hour

Contract length

Reduced Full Time Temporary (Until approx. August 2024)

Responsibilities
  • Manage summer student onboarding: orientation, training, and integration.
  • Maintain summer student database and update volunteer hours, etc.
  • Collaborate to create, plan, and implement summer student volunteer recognition events.
  • Liaise with staff regarding placements and evaluation of summer students.
  • Interview, place, and support summer student volunteers.
  • Provide ongoing communication with summer students to ensure job satisfaction.
  • Monitor schedules and compile accurate reports.
  • Support departmental projects.
Requirements
  • Secondary school graduation and attend post‑secondary full‑time studies starting fall 2024.
  • Previous volunteer experience, especially at Markham Stouffville Hospital student volunteer program.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records.
  • Commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others, complying with policies, health and safety legislation, and completing required mandatory education.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, able to work independently.
  • Positive customer‑service approach.
  • Ability to conduct presentations to groups.
