The City of Markham is seeking a Curatorial Assistant for a temporary contract within the Markham Museum's Economic Growth, Culture & Entrepreneurship Department. This role is ideal for recent graduates passionate about museum work and collections management. You will assist in planning a key temporary exhibition and support various community outreach initiatives, gaining invaluable hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and update inventory lists for collection areas
• Draft recommendations for collection conservation or deaccession
• Identify and propose improvements for storage systems
• Assist with care and maintenance of current exhibitions
• Participate in team meetings and community events
Requirements:
• Recent graduate in a related field
• Experience working with volunteers
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Basic knowledge of collections management software
• Capacity to perform physical tasks on site
