Position: Part-Time High School Math & Science Occasional Teacher

Part-Time High School Math & Science Occasional Teacher

Location: Unionville, Markham, Ontario

Employment Type: Part Time

Pay: $19.00 to $21.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Saturdays: 9:00 am – 1:30 pm (regular/occasional)
  • After‑school & evenings (Mon‑Thu): 4:00 pm – 8:30 pm (occasional)

This is an in‑person position. Candidates must be able to commute to Unionville. The role is not online and relocation packages are not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Position Requirements

  • Teaching/tutoring experience with Grades 9–12 (or equivalent) math and science.
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills.
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
  • Ability to multitask and support up to three students simultaneously.
  • Commitment through the end of the school year is preferred; continuing through summer is even better.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
  • Teaching certification is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9–12 math and science curriculum, especially senior math (Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors) and science (physics, chemistry, biology).

Responsibilities (Position Details)

  • Teach up to three students at a time at different levels.
  • Deliver instruction both in‑person and online (based on the Oxford Learning methodology).
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Mention post‑lesson notes and daily student communication updates.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
