Safer. This is how Aecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects. As part of our Aecon Utilities sector, Aecon Telecommunications (Telecom) works with major providers across North America to assist with turnkey fiber installation, 5G network expansions and servicing legacy networks.

Aecon Telecom is seeking a Superintendent to oversee the successful execution of projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with contractual obligations. This role also manages day‑to‑day operations in the yard, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and workmanship. The Superintendent plays a key leadership role in coordinating teams, maintaining operational efficiency, and upholding high standards across all phases of construction.

What

You Will Do Here
  • Oversee the planning and scheduling of telecommunications projects to ensure timely and cost‑effective delivery.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain schedule and budget targets.
  • Coordinate and manage core project functions: administration, scheduling, and construction.
  • Ensure clients are informed of all extra work and claims, and subcontractors are notified of any back charges.
  • Maintain and update contract documentation, including change orders.
  • Implement and monitor safety, environmental, and quality control policies and plans.
  • Ensure compliance with local legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and support to project staff, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, project procedures, and union agreements where applicable.
  • Review and approve project cost reports, ensuring accurate forecasting and profitability.
  • Assist in the bidding process by contributing technical insights and field expertise.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support project success.
What You Bring To The Team
  • Experience in the utility contracting industry with a strong understanding of field operations.
  • Sound knowledge of construction techniques, practices, and fundamentals.
  • Experience with contract and subcontract management, including documentation and compliance.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Telecommunications experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Must hold a valid Ontario Class G driver’s license.

The expected salary for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience and unique skills.
