SUMMARY
The Regional Director – Fire Protection/Sprinkler is responsible for the leadership, technical oversight, and operational performance of a regional team supporting sprinkler, standpipe, and wet fire protection systems. This senior role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, and small project work. The ROM drives operational excellence, service quality, and client satisfaction while supporting the growth and expansion of the sprinkler and wet systems service line.
This position requires a strong background in field or trade environments, operational and client‑facing experience, and familiarity with quotation and estimating processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and the ability to guide both people and performance.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
People Leadership
Leads and manages a regional team of sprinkler technicians, fitters, coordinators, and subcontractors.Provides hands‑on technical leadership and guidance specific to wet fire protection systems.Oversees employee development, training, performance management, hiring, and retention.Ensures full compliance with health and safety requirements related to fire protection work.Conducts regular safety meetings and supports a strong safety‑first culture.Ensures all work aligns with BGIS standards, client expectations, and applicable codes.Operations Management
Oversees regional operations for sprinkler and water‑based fire protection systems, including scheduling, resource planning, and service coordination.Manages operational budgets, labour planning, materials, subcontractor costs, and work order delivery.Ensures timely completion of inspection, testing, maintenance, service calls, and small project work.Leads proactive maintenance strategies and troubleshooting efforts.Collaborates with internal teams to implement fire‑protection‑specific standards, processes, and preventive maintenance programs.Supports the adoption and optimization of tools, technologies, and Computerized Maintenance Management System workflows.Responds to operational challenges with urgency to maintain compliance and client satisfaction.Client & Business Support
Acts as a subject matter expert for sprinkler and wet fire protection systems.Supports client discussions on compliance, system performance, lifecycle planning, and service quality.Builds and strengthens client relationships through effective communication and issue resolution.Reviews, validates, and approves estimates and quotations with accuracy and financial awareness.Identifies opportunities to expand services and support business development within the region.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Educational & Certification Assets
Trade background or apprenticeship experience in Sprinkler Fitting, or related mechanical/fire protection fields.Community College in Fire Protection Engineering (or equivalent) or work experience as a Fire Sprinkler JourneymanKnowledge in most NFPA Codes, in particular NFPA 13, 14, 20, 25, 10.National fire code, Ontario Fire code and Ontario Building Code.Experience in a Sales/Supervisor/Design role in the Fire Protection Industry preferred.Experience in Project Estimation/Management will be considered an asset.Management and Supervisory Experience idealMust possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.Exceptional communication skills and organizational skillsExperience Assets
5–10 years of experience in sprinkler/wet fire protection systems, fire protection operations, or similar mechanical/life‑safety service lines.Supervisory or leadership experience managing field technicians or subcontractors.Experience developing or reviewing estimates and quotations.Experience with inspection, testing, and maintenance programs for water‑based systems.Familiarity with project coordination or retrofit activities.Proficiency with CMMS systems and digital service management tools.Strong communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder‑management skills.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Solid technical knowledge of sprinkler and water‑based fire protection systems.Ability to clearly communicate technical and non‑technical information.Strong operational, planning, budgeting, and organizational skills.Ability to interpret inspection data, analyze deficiencies, and recommend solutions.Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Ability to lead and motivate skilled trades professionals in a high‑performance environment.This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $110,000 - $150,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
