Role Overview

Your role  part of GEI's continued growth across the Ontario market, we are seeking a high‑performing hydrogeology professional who brings both technical leadership and strong business development capabilities. This role is ideal for a professional who wants to shape project delivery, strengthen client relationships, and contribute directly to business growth while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the organization. You will work alongside technical leaders in hydrogeology, environmental services, geotechnical engineering, ecology, and water resources, delivering solutions for both public and private sector clients in a variety of project contexts, including planning, design, monitoring and mitigation plans, and approvals.

Responsibilities & Duties Technical Leadership
  • Provide direction and mentorship to junior staff conducting hydrogeological field investigations including soil and groundwater sampling, well monitoring, in-situ permeability testing, infiltration testing, and groundwater monitoring programs.
  • Lead the preparation of technical reports, analyses, impact assessments, and studies in accordance with federal, provincial, and municipal regulations, including:
    • Water balance studies
    • D‑5‑4 and D‑5‑5 studies
    • Source protection policy applicability reviews
    • Construction dewatering studies
    • Water supply investigations and analyses
    • Peer reviews
    • PTTW and EASR applications
    • Groundwater monitoring programs
  • Support hydrogeological analysis and modelling for site and feature‑based water balance assessments in collaboration with Water Resources Engineers.
  • Work collaboratively with geotechnical, environmental, ecological, and municipal engineering teams on multidisciplinary projects.
Business Development & Client Growth
  • Actively contribute to business development initiatives by identifying new opportunities and strengthening existing client relationships.
  • Support proposal preparation, scope development, cost estimates, and work planning for hydrogeological, environmental and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Participate in client meetings, project pursuits, and strategic growth initiatives within the Ontario market.
  • Help expand GEI's hydrogeology practice by developing new client relationships and identifying emerging project opportunities.
  • Contribute to regional marketing efforts and technical thought leadership, positioning GEI as a trusted advisor in hydrogeological and environmental services.
Project Delivery & Collaboration
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure high‑quality project delivery and technical excellence.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety best practices in all aspects of field and office work.
  • Participate in field investigations when required, depending on project scope and experience level.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience, or related field.
  • 8+ years of hydrogeological experience, preferably within Southern Ontario.
  • Professional designation as P.Eng. or P.Geo. in Ontario.
  • Demonstrated experience in hydrogeological investigations, groundwater monitoring, and hydrogeological analysis (e.g., conceptual model development, dewatering/sustainable yield estimates, zone of influence estimates) and impact assessment.
  • Experience with hydrogeological modelling for site water balance, wetland feature‑based water balance studies, and numerical groundwater flow modelling is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Ontario regulatory frameworks including OWRA, O. Reg. 387/04, O. Reg. 63/16, Conservation Authority guidelines, the “Reasonable Use Concept”, and typical municipal requirements for hydrogeological studies in the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
  • Familiarity with the role of hydrogeology in, and general project processes of, development approvals applications, infrastructure design and construction, and Environmental Impact Study/Environmental Implementation Reports.
  • Experience with groundwater testing, pumping tests, single‑well response tests, infiltration testing, monitoring programs, and mitigation planning.
