Black & Veatch is offering a senior Water Distribution System Hydraulic Engineer position to provide leadership and technical expertise for hydraulic modeling and system planning projects across the United States.

The Opportunity

In this role you will:

  • Provide technical and execution leadership for water distribution hydraulic modeling and system planning projects across the United States
  • Evaluate water systems for capacity, condition, resilience, operating efficiency, and water quality
  • Perform analysis and projections of water demands
  • Use hydraulic modeling software to build, calibrate, and evaluate water systems for system planning and design support
  • Use risk‑based assessments to develop and prioritize capital improvement programs
  • Integrate condition assessment and asset management data into system master planning and directly support replacement & renewal planning
  • Use cutting‑edge hydraulic modeling, GIS, asset management, and data visualization software to address client challenges
  • Support marketing and business development activities by providing technical leadership during project pursuits across the United States, including pre‑positioning, proposal development, and client interviews
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with technical and thought leadership surrounding water infrastructure systems
  • Experience in client‑facing roles
  • 8+ years of water infrastructure assessment experience including hydraulic modeling, master planning, asset management, and data analysis; experience with transient/surge modeling and analysis is a plus
  • Experience managing water system modeling and planning projects, leading technical tasks and project teams, and executing water distribution system studies and assessments that involve operations modeling, optimization techniques, risk & resiliency evaluations, capital and life‑cycle cost analyses, and CIP prioritization
  • Proficient with report writing and PowerPoint presentations
  • Experience in developing proposals and leading technical discussions during client interviews/projects
  • Experience and/or familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and software (e.g., ArcGIS)
  • Capable in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Proficient with data analyses and analytics
  • Familiarity with dynamic data visualization software such as PowerBI
  • Experience and/or familiarity with hydraulic modeling software such as:
    • Open Flows Water (Water

      GEMS)
    • Info Water Pro
    • EPANet
    • Info Surge Pro
    • Hammer
Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program in the home country or the country of practice. Minimum of 5 years related work experience.

Certifications

Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or P. Eng.

Work Environment/Schedule
  • Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments
  • This position requires working in a typical office environment and may entail prolonged periods of sitting and computer use; physical tasks during site visits may include crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods
  • Position will be based out of our Toronto, Ontario office
