Position

Controls Estimator II – Trane Technologies, location:
Markham (Ontario) or Laval (Quebec).

• Prepare cost estimates for HVAC controls projects including materials, subcontractors, purchased equipment, labor, and construction-related activities.
• Develop detailed scope based on account managers' design-build scope, plans, specifications, and published documents for competitive bidding.
• Create system sketches, scope definitions, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposals, vendor/subcontractor quotes, and point lists.
• Perform take‑off and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accurate quantities, sizes, configurations, voltage, and options.
• Conduct pre‑bid meetings with account managers to review scope and strategy.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and risk items in projects.
• Negotiate prices with vendors and subcontractors to optimize job costs.
• Assist account managers in determining need for outsourced engineering and work with operations/fulfillment group to control cost variations.

• Engineering or related field degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3‑5 years estimating, engineering, or construction management experience, or 5‑7 years in the controls field, or equivalent.
• Proven experience with Building Automation, HVAC Controls, and HVAC Systems.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other construction systems.
• Strong financial and business acumen; history of on-time, on-budget project delivery.
• Excellent prioritization and multitasking ability in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience working directly with building owners is a plus.
• Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as required.
• Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with clean record.

Annual base salary range: $94,366.66 – $.
