The Building Science Consultant works in a team environment on several projects concurrently. Typical projects could include: the review of new and existing buildings, development of design documents for repair, construction review, and specialty testing. The role requires technical knowledge of buildings and effective communication with clients and contractors. The role has a mixture of time on site and in the office.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in project management and coordination
- Perform site visits to periodically observe construction and prepare site visit reports
- Perform assessments to develop reports or studies
- Assist with performance of field testing (e.g. water leakage, air leakage, thermography, etc.)
- Assist with the development of design documents
- Attend meetings and document discussions
- Assist with project document reviews (previous reports, shop drawings, material submittals, etc.)
- Track and update action items for the project team and contractors
- Liaise with the project team, clients, contractors
- Assist in preparing proposals and establishing financial budgets
- Participate in continuing education
- Perform various office related tasks
- Organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks on multiple projects

- Valid Driver's license and access to a vehicle
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field
along with general knowledge of Building Science principles or Building Envelope components. 2 to 4 years of experience in a related field is an asset. Pursuing registration either as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is an asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
