Summary
Reporting to the Planning Director, the Lead Planner will be responsible for providing guidance and support to the Operations teams in the estimating and planning of various contracts. The Lead Planner will also coach, mentor and oversee the development of Bid, Proposal and Baseline schedules by the Planning and Scheduling team, offering insights into both scheduling and construction best practices.
Responsibilities- Mentor and coach fellow planners/schedulers in construction scheduling best practices and construction means and methods.
- With the support of the project team, develop and maintain resource-loaded project schedules for multi-year projects in Primavera P6 from proposals, contract documents and estimates, including critical path analysis and constructability.
- Align project baseline schedules with baseline budgets, identify trends and schedule impacts, and provide planning and scheduling support for various crews and teams throughout all phases.
- Monitor and report critical path and schedule performance, including progress, trends, forecasts, and scheduling input to weekly, bi‑weekly and monthly project reports.
- Identify schedule considerations and problems involving interdisciplinary or group restraints and interfaces, and assist with project schedule analysis and studies of problem areas.
- Analyze subcontractor schedules, forecast and trend completion target dates, and report deviations accordingly.
- Develop cash curves based on control estimates and project schedules for cash forecasting.
- Review or assist in reviewing proposal provisions related to schedule and develop supporting data for contract negotiations.
- 3–5 years of experience in the construction industry for a transit project.
- 3–8 years in a Planner/Scheduler role.
- 8 years of combined experience in planning/scheduling and highway construction.
- Preference given to experience with MTO projects involving civil and structural components.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret drawings and contracts.
- Post‑secondary education considered an asset.
- Results‑driven with the ability to deliver success in a fast‑paced environment.
- Outcome‑focused, critical thinker with visual analysis skills for continuous improvement.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and prioritisation skills.
- Versatile and resourceful in overcoming business challenges.
- Previous leadership experience considered an asset.
- Valid G driver’s licence and access to own vehicle.
- Open to travel to job sites throughout Ontario.
- Expected base salary: $100,000 – $140,000 per year.
