Senior Project Engineer

Senior Project Engineer (Full‑time, Toronto, ON)

Annual Compensation: $150,000+ (based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards).

• Leading tasks in production of project deliverables for clients.
• Independently producing technical deliverables according to client specifications.
• Independently preparing construction plans and specifications, structural/geotechnical, calculations, design reports, and technical memoranda.
• Communicating technical and non‑technical information in a concise, professional manner, including participation in technical meetings and workshops with owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Producing geotechnical and structural engineering calculations (including numerical analysis) to support tunnel and trenchless design, excavation and complex structures, meeting local and national codes.
• Preparing technical reports, memoranda, letters, and geotechnical data reports (GDRs) and baseline reports (GBRs).
• Completing geotechnical engineering tasks associated with tunnel and trenchless design, including development of design parameters from reports and project documents.
• Completing structural analysis and design of tunnels, shafts, and stations, including lining, connections, support of excavation, and retaining structures in steel, concrete, and timber.
• Increasing LJB’s visibility in the industry by participating in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations, and professional association activities.
• Field‑based assignments will include shift work, weekdays, nights, and weekends; office assignments require a standard weekday business hours schedule.
• Other duties as assigned.

• 5–8 years of relevant project experience in the planning, design, and construction of diverse tunnel and trenchless projects.
• Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making, and teamwork skills.
• Excellent technical writing skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, thorough knowledge of relevant technical codes, operations, processes, and trends.
• Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, collaborate with other disciplines, and mentor junior staff.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, geological/geotechnical, or related field (required).
• Master’s degree preferred.
