The Opportunity
As an Electrical Project Engineer, you may have the opportunity to:
Act as a Technical Specialist or Project Lead, providing coordination, guidance, and expertise on substation projects.
Support projects up to 765 kV in engineering detailed design and EPC.
Develop protection and control design deliverables.
Develop physical design deliverables such as yard layout, grounding, lightning protection, control building, and auxiliary power systems.
Perform or oversee quality review of electrical substation design packages.
Mentor junior team members.
Prepare equipment specifications and Bills of Materials for procurement and construction.
Coordinate project activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors and stakeholders.
Present proposals, designs and project activities.
Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, construction coordination and field verification.
Manage design budgets and schedules.
Support business development or pursuit activities.
Key Responsibilities
Continuously develop knowledge and provide guidance on design guides, standards, and engineering codes.
Apply B&V quality program standards, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
Prepare complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, and develop recommendations.
Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements, and delegate tasks to lower level team members.
Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.
Identify key client interests and communicate them to the project team.
Provide consultation and guidance to project teams in a particular practice area.
Mentor lower‑level professionals and identify successors for their roles.
Administrative responsibilities may include:
Implementing and communicating policies and procedures for the work group.
Ensuring adherence to corporate and division programs.
Approving timesheets and expense reports.
Preferred Qualifications
High voltage substation design experience – Physical and/or Protection & Controls.
Experience as project lead and technical specialist on utility substation projects.
QA/QC review experience.
Ability to coordinate and communicate with clients and multidisciplinary leads.
Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
Active engineering registration or licensure for engineer of record requirements.
Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screening, etc.).
Certifications
Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
