Job Description AECOM is seeking a Project Planning & Scheduling Lead to join our team in Markham or Mississauga, Ontario. This is a newly created position.
Functional Responsibilities In‑office 5 days a week.
Manages the submittal of project schedules from contractors and consultants and undertakes critical reviews to confirm they are accurate, realistic, and logical.
Evaluates the schedule impact of proposed changes to the projects and/or consultancy agreements in accordance with contract terms.
Identifies potential and actual project‑level schedule conflicts and works with the project delivery teams to resolve them.
Maintains client‑level schedules and collaborates with other program schedulers to align and integrate schedule interfaces feeding into the master program schedule.
Provides schedule reporting and critical path analysis in line with program reporting requirements.
Supports the QSRA process and works collaboratively with the Risk Manager and Cost Manager to coordinate inputs.
Coaches, mentors, and supports the career development of staff.
Participates in review sessions on project status with project management and/or client, highlighting adverse schedule variances for corrective actions/mitigation plans.
Conducts schedule quality assurance and peer reviews.
Assists in developing all reports required by client business requirements and corporate reporting procedures.
Reviews weekly coordination of data (Cost/Schedule/Trends/Progress).
Ensures scheduling activities are conducted in accordance with Project Procedures and Job Instructions, including preparation of schedules, cash flow and variance analysis.
Knowledgeable of planning and scheduling concepts and principles.
Supports schedule analysis, identifies and investigates schedule variances.
Assists in developing and maintaining WBS and supports coding implementation.
Supports gathering and assembling data for schedule updating.
Measures project schedule progress and gathers and assembles data for schedule and network updating.
Familiar with engineering workflows and construction methodology.
Understands CPM scheduling concepts and principles.
Understands scope control and change management principles.
Familiar with Earned Value Management and Progress Measurement concepts.
Collects data and produces productivity analysis on manpower, labor hours, quantity requirements versus budget limits.
Exposed to scheduling and cost baseline fundamentals, concepts and principles.
Introduced to performance management and cost/schedule integration concepts and principles.
Qualifications University education in Engineering, Finance or Economics and at least 8 years of related experience.
University education with further development in Project Management would be preferred.
Professional designation: 10 years of related experience;
Project Management Professional (PMP) or AACE Certification preferred;
Degree in Engineering, Economics, Business preferred;
Primavera P6 – Advanced Level;
Acumen Fuse.
Experience in Design‑Build and Progressive Delivery.
10 years of experience in scheduling.
Scheduling experience for large transit projects/programs.
Experienced in creating and implementing complex Work Breakdown Structures and integrating multiple schedules/work plans.
Strong communicator comfortable leading scheduling workshops and planning sessions, including working with contractors.
Background working for a contracting organization is an asset.
Familiar with Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) Process.
