GEI Consultants Canada Ltd. is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our growing Land Development practice in Markham, Ontario. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with 5-10+ years of relevant consulting and engineering experience who is ready to take on greater technical leadership, project responsibility, and mentorship within a collaborative and growing team.

In this role, you will lead and contribute to a diverse portfolio of water resources and land development projects for residential, industrial, commercial, and municipal clients. You will apply your technical expertise across hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, stormwater management, water balance, natural channel systems, and low-impact development while helping guide projects from early-stage due diligence and planning through detailed design and agency approvals.

Beyond technical delivery, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and EITs, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of GEI's Water Resources practice.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will:

  • Lead and deliver water resources components of complex land development and municipal infrastructure projects, working closely with senior management and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Undertake hydrologic and hydraulic analyses throughout all phases of project development, from conceptual servicing and due diligence through preliminary and detailed design.
  • Develop, review, and apply hydrologic and hydraulic models to support stormwater management, floodplain analysis, water balance assessments, natural channel design, and infrastructure planning.
  • Lead the planning and detailed design of stormwater management facilities, drainage systems, low-impact development measures, and related water resources infrastructure.
  • Complete and oversee feature‑based water balance assessments and continuous hydrologic modelling.
  • Support natural channel assessments, realignment designs, and hydraulic analyses, including 1D and 2D modelling where applicable.
  • Prepare and review technical memoranda, Functional Servicing Reports, Stormwater Management Reports, Master Environmental Servicing Plans, Subwatershed Studies, design briefs, construction drawings, specifications, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with municipalities, conservation authorities, review agencies, clients, developers, and other stakeholders to advance projects through the approval process.
  • Provide technical guidance, quality control, and senior‑level review of analyses, models, designs, drawings, and reports prepared by project teams.
