The Senior Financial Analyst is part of a team of professionals providing financial and statistical/utilization information, analysis and strategic problem solving to both clinical and non-clinical teams throughout the hospital. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the Finance department delivering consistent, accurate, and timely information while providing excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
* Prepare both monthly program level and corporate level financial results that accurately reflect the financial health of the organization
* Work autonomously to analyze financial results and work with Directors/Managers of an assigned Program or Business Units to interpret and present the financial impact of operational decisions as well as identify areas of process improvement by providing evidence-based information to execute decisions and monitor results
* Provide lead role during quarterly forecasting process to capture any emerging trends, cost saving strategies to project budget surplus/ deficit, provide management with analytical trending data and develop an effective method of tracking identified initiatives
* Work with programs to develop annual operating plans and budgets (including identification of opportunities to improve financial performance and efficiencies)
* Strategic problem solving for both clinical and non-clinical programs throughout the organization
* Liaise with all relevant stakeholders to ensure timely accurate financial and statistical reporting and adherence to monthly/quarterly and year-end timetables
* Prepare and submit key Ministry financial and statistical documents related to any specific programs
* Coordinate, plan and submit timely Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care reports such as HAPs, SRI and other ad-hoc Ministry submissions
* Develop customized reports and visually impactful presentations for various stakeholders including monthly financial results presentations, reports on key performance indicators, etc.
* Ensure accounting policies used are in compliance with internal policies, MIS Guideline/OHRS guidelines and Canadian GAAP
* Provide support in case costing and MIS reporting, as required
** What you bring to the role:
*** Degree in business or relevant program of study, with professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
* Self-directed, action oriented and highly motivated, an adept team player and team leader
* Minimum 5 years financial / clinical analysis experience including accounting, reporting, budgeting, variance analysis and business case development (healthcare preferred)
* Knowledge and experience of Health System Funding Reform (HSFR), such as Health Based Allocation Model (HBAM), Quality Based Procedures (QBP) and Patient Based Funding
* Experience of Ministry of Health reporting and Post Construction Operating Plans (PCOP) or demonstrated knowledge and experience in a relatable industry/environment
* Proven ability to interpret, summarize and communicate complex financial and statistical data to stakeholders throughout the organization
* Experience using multiple data sources (financial, statistical, case costing, CIHI databases, Ministry data etc) to develop and prepare complex analysis
