In this role at Markham Stouffville Hospital, you will provide high-quality assessment and treatment to adult patients struggling with swallowing and communication following strokes. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team will be pivotal in ensuring optimal patient care. Your strong communication and critical thinking skills will guide patients on their road to recovery while participating in initiatives for program development.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess and manage communication and swallowing disorders
• Educate patients and families on treatment options
• Collaborate with a diverse healthcare team to enhance patient care
• Engage in quality improvement projects for better patient outcomes
• Ensure adherence to hospital safety and health policies
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology required
• Valid registration with the Ontario College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists
• 2 years of relevant experience preferred, focusing on dysphagia
• BLS Certification necessary upon hiring
• Proficient in video fluoroscopic swallow study practices
