System Administrator

Overview

Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a System Administrator.

From Procurement to Finance to IT services and much more, the Quality & Operation Department provides critical support for all of Huawei Canada. • Install, configure, support and maintain hardware/software in a multiple-server, network environment and testing lab
• Maintain and manage the infrastructure including electrical and HVAC, diagnose and provide solutions to networks and systems issues
• Assist with the implementation, deployment and operation of information systems and technology solutions for business needs
• Perform and assist with disaster recovery operations as necessary. Produce appropriate operational documentation, enforce health and safety policies and practices, inspect and maintain supplies and materials, and analyze reports to provide relevant information to management to assist with high level decision making
• Identify and implement improvements in existing processes and procedures. Advise management of potential improvements in support of future requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in computer science, or relevant subject
• Minimum of 5 years working experience as server/lab administration
• Excellent knowledge of the Linux and Windows operating systems
• Strong knowledge of common Linux applications and systems, including NIS, LDAP, NFS, NAS, Samba, Yum, etc
• Extensive experience in working with virtualized infrastructure and appliances
• Experience with CAD tools installation and support, such as Synopsys, Mentor, Cadence and Ansoft
• Strong experience in scripting, including but not limited to bash, Perl, Python
• Critical thinking and decision-making abilities
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills
