The Privacy Analyst provides technical and analytical support to SE Health’s Privacy Office. Working under the direction of the Senior Privacy Specialist, with guidance from the Data Privacy Engineer, this role supports the technical components of privacy compliance, including data flow validation, audit support, monitoring, and metrics development. The Privacy Analyst supports assessment of systems, datasets, and emerging technologies against privacy requirements within a large national healthcare environment.

Job Responsibilities Technical Privacy Assessment Support for Projects and Digital Initiatives

These responsibilities support digital transformation, system modernization, AI adoption, integrations, migrations, and privacy-by-design activities across enterprise initiatives:

  • Conduct technical data flow mapping across systems and validate how information moves between platforms, APIs, and integrations.
  • Review technical documentation (architecture diagrams, schemas, retention behaviors) to support privacy assessments and PIAs.
  • Assess how new or existing systems implement privacy controls such as data minimization, role-based access, encryption, and retention.
  • Support privacy-by-design reviews by gathering evidence and documenting system behaviors.
  • Analyze how data is stored, replicated, retained, and archived, and identify areas where technical changes may be required to support privacy requirements.
  • Support evaluation of AI, automation, and emerging technologies by collecting technical inputs and identifying potential privacy risks.
  • Validate data quality, data lineage, and system mappings to support migrations, integrations, or decommissioning activities.
  • Conduct technical analysis for proposed system enhancements or workflow changes from a privacy and data-protection perspective.
  • Prepare structured technical findings and documentation for review by the Senior Privacy Specialist and Data Privacy Engineer.
Incident and Audit Technical Support

These responsibilities support privacy incident investigations and audit readiness:

  • Extract and analyze technical evidence (metadata, logs, system events) to support privacy incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Conduct preliminary analysis of system logs and audit trails to identify unusual access patterns, anomalies, or potential privacy control issues.
  • Support audit and compliance activities by preparing and validating required technical documentation and evidence
Technical Inventories, Monitoring and Knowledge Maintenance

These responsibilities support governance, monitoring, and ongoing program operations:

  • Maintain technical inventories of applications, datasets, processing attributes, API connections, and system dependencies used in privacy assessments.
  • Maintain AI and system documentation to ensure technical artifacts supporting privacy assessments remain complete and current.
  • Monitor trends in privacy engineering, logging practices, data governance tools, and technology safeguards, and summarize relevant insights for the Privacy Office
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Health Informatics, or Law.
  • Coursework or training in data privacy, cybersecurity, or information governance is an asset.
  • Certifications (considered an asset):
  • IAPP: CIPP/C or Foundations of Privacy
  • CompTIA Security+
  • AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud foundational certification
Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in a technical, analytical, or privacy-related role.
  • Experience supporting technical assessments, system reviews, audits, or data governance activities.
  • Experience interpreting system logs, technical documentation, or system interactions.
  • Familiarity with PHIPA, PIPEDA, or similar privacy frameworks is an asset.
Skills & Attributes

  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
