Creative Technologies, Lab and Media Assistant

Position Overview
Report to the Director, Lab Operations and work under the direction of the AMPD Creative Technologies (CT) faculty head. The Creative Technologies, Lab and Media Assistant supports day‑to‑day activities in the labs by assisting users, monitoring equipment, coordinating bookings, and ensuring spaces are prepared and operational. The role provides routine guidance to students and casual staff, supports introductory workshops, set‑up and take‑down of labs, and assists with basic troubleshooting of equipment and software to maintain a welcoming, functional environment that enables teaching, research and learning.

Key Responsibilities

Assist users and students with basic equipment or software inquiries.

Monitor equipment, coordinate lab bookings, and ensure spaces are prepared for scheduled sessions.

Set up and take down labs for weekly academic schedules.

Provide routine guidance to students and casual staff during lab sessions.

Support introductory workshops and basic troubleshooting of lab equipment and software.

Qualifications

Education:

College diploma in a related field such as media production, digital media, information & communication technology or equivalent.

Experience:

Minimum one year of experience providing technical support in a media lab, digital media environment, computer lab, or similar setting.

Experience assisting users with basic equipment or software inquiries.

Location and Duration
This seasonal position runs from August to May and is located in Markham.
