The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Change Delivery to join the central Transformation team at Aviva Canada. In this role, you will support the execution and governance of Aviva Canada’s Change Portfolio, ensuring strategic, regulatory, and business transformation initiatives are delivered with strong governance, effective planning, robust risk management, and disciplined execution. Working closely with key stakeholders across the business and IT, you will play a critical leadership role in enabling successful delivery of strategic outcomes while maintaining a consistent and transparent view of portfolio progress, dependencies, risks, and commitments.

What

You’ll Do
  • Optimize governance frameworks, decision‑making forums, artefacts, and delivery controls to improve transparency, accelerate delivery, and reduce unnecessary complexity.
  • Lead the evolution of governance, assurance, and delivery management practices across the Change Portfolio, ensuring they remain effective, pragmatic, and aligned to strategic outcomes.
  • Provide independent challenge and assurance across portfolio initiatives, ensuring plans, risks, dependencies, assumptions, and delivery commitments are robust, achievable, and outcome‑focused.
  • Foster a culture that challenges the status quo, continuously identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve ways of working, and enhance delivery effectiveness.
  • Partner with project and program teams to leverage governance as an enabler of successful delivery, ensuring the right balance between oversight, control, speed, and business value.
  • Assess and proactively manage portfolio risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery constraints, providing early insights and recommendations to support informed decision‑making.
  • Lead integrated planning activities across strategic, regulatory, and business‑led initiatives to ensure alignment of priorities, commitments, dependencies, and delivery roadmaps.
  • Facilitate governance forums and executive discussions, driving clear accountability, timely decisions, and resolution of delivery challenges.
  • Develop and maintain portfolio reporting, insights, and assurance assessments that provide leadership with a clear view of delivery health, risks, progress, and outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in governance and delivery practices by incorporating lessons learned, industry best practices, and emerging portfolio management approaches.
  • Explore and implement new ways of working, operating models, and governance approaches that support evolving business, technology, and transformation delivery environments.
  • Leverage automation, data, and technology solutions to streamline governance activities, improve portfolio insights, enhance reporting quality, and reduce administrative effort.
  • Collaborate with sponsors, delivery teams, risk, control, audit, and senior leaders to ensure appropriate governance, strong control environments, and successful delivery of strategic outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Technology, Project Management, or a related discipline; relevant professional certifications considered an asset
  • 5+ years of leadership experience within large‑scale transformation, portfolio delivery, program management, or change management environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing governance, planning, assurance, risk, issue, and dependency activities across complex change portfolios
  • Strong understanding of project, program, and portfolio delivery methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches
  • Proven ability to lead integrated planning across multiple initiatives while balancing priorities, dependencies, resource constraints, and business outcomes
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience working with executive leaders, sponsors, delivery teams, risk functions, and external partners
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, with the ability to evaluate complex situations and provide practical recommendations to overcome delivery challenges
  • Experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating delivery risks, issues, and dependencies within complex transformation…
