Overview

Game Day is part of Excess Underwriting which is a specialized MGA designed to provide commercial package coverage for sports, entertainment, and special events. This type of coverage is tailored to address the unique risks associated with large-scale events, such as sports games, concerts, festivals, or other gatherings where there is a significant concentration of people and potential liabilities.

We are looking for an Underwriter to join our team in Markham. As the Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating new business submissions, managing an existing book of business while adhering to company service standards. This role involves exceptional carrier relationships, as well as a high level of professionalism and diplomacy.

How you ll make an impact
  • Underwrite new business, endorsements and renewals in accordance to guidelines and authority for each insuring partner. Facilitate the processing of renewals by working closely with broker partners and Underwriting.
  • Within your level of authority, quote, negotiate, sell, and authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals, and endorsements to develop and retain profitable business according to the business plan established for the department.
  • Review risks for acceptability, secure additional information as required and decide on appropriate course of action. Recommend solution when requiring approval and referring to company underwriters.
  • Maintain relationships with brokers by phone, email and other forms of communication.
  • Provide support and suggestions to brokers in conjunction with other departments as necessary. Report training and educational opportunities as experienced in day to day broker interaction and by attending trade shows. Render approval/decline decisions on incoming applications for new businesses consistent with internal and insurer policies. Responsible for ensuring all files, forms and client details are updated.
  • Field visits:
    Attend in person field visits to strengthen broker and client relationships while doing risk appetite presentations.
