A typical day in the life of a dispatcher involves managing multiple responsibilities to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The dispatcher is accountable for overseeing the GPS dispatching software system, which includes receiving and entering orders accurately and scheduling drivers and broker loads for timely dispatch. They generate, maintain, and distribute various reports to track operations and performance, while also ensuring compliance by closely managing drivers’ hours of service.
Throughout the day, the dispatcher coordinates communication between drivers, brokers, and internal teams, resolving issues as they arise. Additionally, they play a critical support role by acting as a full backup to the Dispatch Supervisor, stepping in to handle supervisory duties whenever needed to maintain continuity in operations.
