Reporting to the Supervisor/Coordinator of Facility Operations, this position is responsible for assisting with facility operations maintenance, cleaning and repair work related to arenas, community centres/halls, outdoor/indoor pools, change rooms, and other assigned areas.

- Markham South
Part-time (up to 24 hours per week).
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Performs general cleaning/maintenance such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, window cleaning, washroom cleaning, snow shoveling and salting, garbage pickup, detail cleaning, and set ups/break downs of tables, chairs or other equipment.
- Operates power tools, cleaning and safety equipment.
- Responds to requests from the general public and other City staff on facility issues and/or maintenance requests.
- P crowds the facility, assesses and mitigates facility problems, safety hazards and/or improper departmental operations.
- Ensures policies and procedures are followed according to City of Markham standards.
- Provides excellent customer service and works well with other staff.
- Performs various administrative duties as required.
- Follows and ensures adherence to policies and procedures, working closely with other City staff to ensure consistency, including COVID-19 health and safety protocols such as donning PPE (e.g., facemasks, goggles).
- Minimum 15 years of age at the start of training.
- Experience in general maintenance.
- Ability and fitness level to perform general maintenance tasks safely.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to interact with diverse groups.
- Required qualifications (must be current and valid during work term):
- Standard First Aid with CPR C with AED.
- Follows City of Markham policy, procedures and COVID-19 health and safety protocols including PPE.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
