Become an integral part of the City of Markham as an Arena Labourer, focusing on facility maintenance and ensuring an environment conducive to community events. This position demands operational oversight and hands-on cleaning responsibilities.
The City seeks 150 Day Temporary Labourers for the 2025/2026 season to maintain arenas and community facilities. Responsibilities include operating the ice resurfacer, managing security when full-time staff aren’t present, and performing fundamental cleaning duties. This role requires flexibility with a 40-hour work week that spans various shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
• Open and secure facilities per schedule
• Operate ice resurfacing and facility equipment
• Execute general maintenance and cleaning tasks
• Monitor compliance with safety protocols
• Train and supervise part-time staff as needed
Requirements:
• Must possess a secondary school diploma
• Minimum one year of facility maintenance experience
• CPR C/First Aid certification required
• Physically able to fulfill job functions
• Submission of VSS/SV letter needed
