Recreational Facility Operator

Join the City of Markham as a Recreational Facility Operator, managing the maintenance of arenas, community centers, and pools. Ensure the facilities are impeccably maintained for community events and programs.

This full-time role reports to the Community Facility Supervisor and requires three years of relevant experience. You will perform routine maintenance, operate equipment, and oversee safe practices while interacting with various stakeholders, including city staff and the public. Strong teamwork and communication skills are vital for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safeguard the security of facilities during operational hours

• Operate and maintain ice resurfacing and pool cleaning machinery

• Conduct routine cleaning and setup for events

• Monitor and enforce safety protocols within the facility

• Delegate tasks to part-time maintenance staff

Requirements:

• Three years’ experience in recreational facility management

• Experience with pool and arena equipment operation

• Secondary School diploma or equivalent required

• First Aid and CPR certification is a must

• Ability to perform basic maintenance work independently
