Overview

Director of Apparel Manufacturing & Distribution

Location:

Markham, ON (On-site)

We're hiring a Director of Apparel Manufacturing and Distribution for one of our clients in Markham. They specialize in:

  • Technical outerwear (parkas, insulated jackets)
  • Government and tactical gear (military, police, fire-resistant apparel)
  • Custom and private label production for leading Canadian brands
Key Responsibilities
  • Factory Operations Leadership:
    Oversee day-to-day production across cutting, sewing, finishing, and packing
  • Lead and develop a team of 200+ skilled workers
  • Be present on the production floor daily to coach, troubleshoot, and strengthen execution discipline
  • Drive output, quality control, and delivery performance
Systems & Process Transformation
  • Implement a scalable ERP/MES system to enable real-time production visibility
  • Introduce Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent frameworks to increase efficiency and reduce waste
  • Standardize workflows and improve production tracking and reporting
  • Modernize piece work payroll structures and support automation initiatives
Culture & Workplace Development
  • Support the evolution of a clean, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment
  • Improve communication, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Build a culture where employees are proud to work, grow, and perform
Ideal Candidate
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in garment manufacturing
  • Strong background in implementing piece work payroll systems and production automation
  • Hands-on experience with ERP or MES systems in apparel environments
  • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Floor-driven, team-building leadership style
  • Experience in outerwear, uniforms, or technical/tactical apparel is a strong asset
