Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Development Officer, Eastern Ontario is part of a new Philanthropy team responsible for generating critical revenue for the Ontario SPCA’s community-based strategic funding initiatives .

The Development Officer will build a new and ongoing base of local philanthropy, focusing on $10,000+ partnerships with individuals, businesses, and foundations through strong relationships and the highest standards of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. This role will focus on relationship building in support of our communities in Leeds & Grenville (Brockville), Renfrew County (Pembroke) and Cornwall.

Key Responsibilities Donor Relationship Management (80%)
  • Act as the primary lead to develop and implement local individualized strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major gift prospects, businesses and foundation donors that will increase engagement and revenue in support of the Ontario SPCA
  • Develop, maintain, and manage a portfolio of approximately 75 qualified prospects and donors with a capacity to give one-time $10,000+ and multi-year gifts + within the animal centre community; conduct research as required; continually populate the pipeline with local businesses, foundations, and individuals
  • Personally conduct cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities to meet revenue and donor-facing activity targets
  • Customize donor-facing communication materials - presentations, gift proposals, gift agreements and recognition and stewardship plans - to support local cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities
  • As a community matter expert on local philanthropy and fundraising best practice, work collaboratively with the Community Outreach team and Animal Centre Managers to identify and execute on opportunities to engage local prospects and donors in all aspects of our fundraising initiatives and mission
  • Actively collaborate with Development colleagues where donors may overlap with Leadership Giving, Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Corporate Giving and Community Events
Administration/Operations (20%)
