Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Plastic Surgeons, Orthopaedic Technologists, the Fracture Clinic, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Wound Care Nurses to provide patient care within the Plastic Clinic.
  • Collaborate with General Surgeons and Ophthalmologists to provide patient care within the Minor Surgery Clinic.
  • Utilize clinical assessment, patient teaching communication, critical thinking and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment focused on patient/family centered care, evidence based practice and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Certificate in Practical Nursing (required).
  • Post graduate certificates in aseptic procedures (Perioperative Certificate), physical assessment and medications (required).
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience working in an operating room setting as a scrub nurse.
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience, within the past year, in an ambulatory care setting including Plastics, Fracture and minor procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, completion of an operating room course.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of suture removal, dressing changes and assisting with minor procedures.
  • RPNAO membership is preferred.
  • Excellent physical assessment skills.
  • Ability to critically think, problem solve and function in a fast paced clinic environment.
  • Ability to act as a resource and role model.
  • Ability to assist with start up of a new clinic.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Commitment to a patient/family centred care environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently.
  • Well developed organization, communication, interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experience.
  • Good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards.
  • Commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others by complying with hospital policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
Work Schedule
  • 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
  • 7:30 AM - 11:30 AM
  • 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Schedules may change due to operational needs.
Compensation

CU10 Range: $36.81 - $38.16
