Registered Nurse - Outpatient Procedure Suites; OPS - Part Time Temporary; Until Approx. Octob
Job Overview
As a member of the Surgical System team, you will manage all aspects of nursing care and service delivery in the Outpatient Procedure Suites (OPS) within the Procedure Unit. Your role will involve performing endoscopy‑related procedures such as colonoscopy, gastroscopy, ERCP, and bronchoscopy, urologic surgical procedures including TURP, laser stone extraction, and cystoscopy, and minor surgical procedures from urology, plastic, and ear/nose/throat specialties.
You will also actively participate in patient safety and advocacy while working in an interprofessional team environment.
- Administer endoscopy‑related procedures (colonoscopy, gastroscopy, ERCP, bronchoscopy)
- Perform urologic surgical procedures (TURP, laser stone extraction, cystoscopy)
- Assist with minor surgical procedures from urology, plastic, and ENT specialties
- Participate in patient safety and patient advocacy throughout the care experience
- Collaborate with interprofessional team members to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Registered Nurse (RN) with an undergraduate nursing degree
- Certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Post‑graduate certificate in Operating Room Nursing preferred
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an endoscopy‑related procedural environment preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of OPANA standards considered an asset
- Membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional care team
- Excellent communication skills and ability to foster positive working relationships
- Familiarity with professional and hospital standards, guidelines, and procedures
- Strong problem‑solving, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Proficient computer skills
- Evidence of professional development, continuing education, and leadership experience (required)
- Demonstrated good attendance and performance records
- Commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for staff, patients, and families in compliance with policies and health & safety legislation
The successful candidate must be available to work Monday through Friday during day shifts. Shift lengths vary between 4, 6, 8, and 10 hours and include but are not limited to 0700‑1700, 0730‑1530, 0800‑1600, 0830‑1630, 0900‑1700, 0700‑1100, 0800‑1200, and 1200‑1600. Please note that schedules may change based on operational needs.
CompensationBAND J range: $41.18 - $59.03 per hour.
