The Primary Health Care (PHC) Program is seeking Nurse Practitioners to support clinical coverage at Urgent Care Centre East, located at 28 Stavanger Drive.

Urgent Care Centre East is the only operational Urgent Care site and is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Shifts are flexible and may be scheduled in 4‑, 8‑, or 12‑hour blocks, based on individual availability and service needs.

Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the Community Walk‑In/Urgent Care Clinic works within the NP scope of practice in the following category of practice:
Family/All Ages. This is an advanced practice role providing professional, analytical and comprehensive health services to clients/families including, but not limited to, health assessments and diagnoses of diseases, disorders, injuries and conditions; treating and managing acute and chronic illnesses and identifying health risks and needs within a holistic, episodic care model.

The NP works independently in an Urgent Care environment, conducting rapid assessment and diagnosis on a walk‑in basis, which necessitates individual follow‑up s is supported by scheduled, weekly administrative time in order to review results and provide additional client care and necessary follow‑up via in‑person, telephone or virtual visits. The NP will also work collaboratively with other providers and staff at the clinic.

By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):

Constantly moves, lifts, or operates equipment/machinery up to 10 lbs. and regularly is required to lift/move equipment, books, supplies, and sometimes children up to 25 lbs. Occasionally, may have to reposition a patient over 50 lbs.

Physical effort also includes regular sitting to conduct patient histories, performing work on the computer and when assessing patients, regularly stands or walks.

When performing procedures, regularly uses fine finger/precision work and hand tools (i.e. medical instruments, computer mouse, stethoscope, etc.) requiring accurate control and steadiness.

Visual concentration is required when performing physical assessment and procedures, completing charts/reports, observing patients, reading equipment/monitors, and completing work‑related correspondence on the computer.

Compensation

Nurse Practitioners will be compensated in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

Orientation and Support

Orientation shifts will be arranged outside of regular working hours, as needed, to support a smooth transition into the Urgent Care environment.
